Beauty Begins with Biscotti: Trick or Treat Review
This Halloween was a fun one. It started with Halloween Hoopla, a community-wide event held at Greer City Park on October 24th. Freedom Fellowship hosted the event, which drew over 1,000 participants. People of all ages donned costumes and readied their bags for treats and crafts. Princesses and pirates could choose from over thirty games to score a handful of assorted treasure. Masked marvels enjoyed the craft stations where they created necklaces, bookmarks, and more. The bouncy houses gave several hundred ghouls a chance to work off all that sugar! It was a treat to be part of such a huge event where people of all backgrounds came together in good fun.

The real treat was being able to serve at this gathering as a family. My husband, my younger son and I encouraged goblins to get bean bags in the pumpkin's mouth. My older son enjoyed his autonomy as he helped superheroes score a prize at the basketball station. Each family was given an invitation to our church, as well as plenty of treats in a goody bag to enjoy.

Our Halloween celebration continued at LinC (Living in Christ), our church's Wednesday night worship and life group for middle school, high school, and college-aged youth. A costume contest provided an outlet for creativity among the students, but for my guys, this party prompted an excuse to awaken the Force. Games and treats filled the evening, and the boys' costumes made a test run for All Hallows' Eve.

A few neighbors pooled our resources of chocolate and lollipops and gathered at one of our houses for a chili cook-off the evening of Halloween. Then, our teens took to the streets and enjoyed the thrill of trick-or-treating on their own.

This Halloween season was about serving our community, paying tribute to George Lucas' original ideas, collecting chocolate delights, and having fun with friends. What was special about your Halloween?
